Virtual Reality: Making Dementia Care Meaningful to the Next Generation of Care Givers (Presentation)
DTA’s Meaningful Spaces workshops use a highly engaging and immersive virtual reality experience to develop participants’ understanding of the effects of dementia. During a half-day workshop, participants explore the principles of environmental design and medication management in supporting people experiencing changed behaviour and psychological symptoms of dementia. The workshop uses VR to build empathy among participants, and upskills them to provide better care for people living with dementia. This presentation will outline the Meaningful Spaces VR app, and the results of recent research into its benefits among participants.
