Social Innovation: Closing the Digital Divide (Panel)
In a world of ubiquitous technology that seems to allow unlimited access to a world of information and entertainment, it’s easy to feel the planet is completely connected and able to move forward as an international community. While for many of us, access to the enormous power and immediacy of this technology is what we take for granted, this blur of great advances in communications and connectivity is clouding the reality for much of the world and our own culture.
What is the nature of this local, national and international digital dive? At its heart, is there a new class struggle and intellectual divide emerging across the planet that works to compound the terrible inequities of economic ones?
This panel explores the nature of the way that the digital divide is working, who’s in control, what we can do about it and how we can build better communities through innovation.
